PTank is a prototype autonomous robot being developed to translate a defined parking layout into consistent strip-line painting. The current work focuses on navigation, placement, marking control, and safe operation under defined surface and site conditions.
The problem
Marking fields and designated surfaces can require repeated measuring, preparation, and manual labour. Small differences in setup or execution can affect the finished layout, while corrections and repeated work consume time that teams could use elsewhere.
The prototype
The prototype is designed to follow a defined layout, navigate the prepared work area, and control the marking task with less dependence on repeated manual measurement. These capabilities must be validated under the surfaces, layouts, and operating conditions for which PTank is prepared.
The outcome
PTank is intended to reduce repeated measuring and make parking-strip painting more repeatable. Prototype testing must establish positioning consistency, completion time, paint use, operator oversight, and safe behavior before broader operational claims are made.
